Did better today as far as eating enough food. Still had a slight headache and some muscle pain/weakness, so I looked it up online. Apparently there is something called “low carb flu” caused by your body detoxing from all of the refined sugars, etc. A couple of people noted that taking a Potassium supplement might help with that, so I took a Potassium pill and also some Milk Thistle for liver support and felt much better. Yeah!

I didn’t eat as well today as I have for the past few days. I skipped breakfast and dinner and just snacked most of the day. Still, I did not eat anything that is a no-no on my plan, so I still feel good about it. Had a terrible headache all day (sinuses, I think) so I didn’t feel like sitting down to meals. Tuna salad & avocado were excellent!

I’m going to start posting this Daily Meal Log every day, and will be weighing in soon too. Once I come up with an exercise plan/schedule, I’ll post that here also. This could actually be FUN!  I also want to give credit where credit is due: I got the idea for this daily posting format from davidisfat.wordpress.com – thanks David!

Doc Daneeka is Dead

One of my favorite books is Catch-22by Joseph Heller. In the book, the military insists that one of the characters, Doc Daneeka, is dead simply because his name was on the flight roster of an airplane that crashed, despite the fact that Doc Daneeka, himself, was standing right there insisting that he was not dead. But government paperwork does not lie, does it? Unless the government says it’s true, it’s not true.

Case in point – my local newspaper has a story titled: “Possible Tornado Strikes OC” – they have photos, video and dozens of eyewitnesses, but the tornado is still listed as “possible” because they are waiting for the government to tell them if there really was one or not. How pathetic have we all become? This just goes to show in a very obvious way how dependent we have all become on government and government agencies to the point of no longer trusting or believing our own eyes, ears or intuition.

Starting My Version of The Paleo Diet

I started on my own version of the Paleo Diet yesterday. I call it “my” version, because I’m not 100% sure about what the “official” diet is yet, as I haven’t finished reading The Primal Blueprint 21-Day Total Body Transformation: A step-by-step, gene reprogramming action plan by Mark Sisson, yet. What I’ve read and researched so far sounds really good, though. This sounds like the diet plan for me – one that I could follow for life and not just for a few months. It also sounds pretty healthy and goes with the idea of The Lost Diet that I talked about in a previous post.

So, basically, what I’m doing is this: I’m cutting out all the pastas, potatoes, starchy beans, cereals, chips, crackers, sweets and most dairy. I will be eating (mostly) lean meats, fish, eggs, nuts, fruits, veggies, cottage cheese, yogurt & protein shakes. Honestly, after only two days of following this plan, I already feel better. I feel more energetic and less “heavy” feeling.

What I ate yesterday: No breakfast. I had broccoli-slaw, chicken breast, and a plum for lunch. For a late afternoon snack I had some pepperoni and a square of dark chocolate. Dinner consisted of some beef jerky and a pear.

What I ate today: No breakfast. I had a handful of walnuts & pecans as a mid-morning snack. For lunch, I had some more broccoli-slaw, dried beef, cottage cheese and an avocado. Once again, I had some pepperoni and a square of dark chocolate as a late afternoon snack. Dinner consisted of some more dried beef, avocado & cottage cheese with the addition of two plums and a few raspberries.

I drank lots of water and one cup of coffee on both of these days (which is typical for me, anyway.)

What makes these two days of healthy eating really special for me, is that my diet for the past several years has consisted mostly of the worst junk food you could imagine: McDonald’s burgers & fries, cheese steaks, pizza, fried chicken, potato chips, cupcakes, cookies, ice cream, candy bars. Seriously. No wonder I feel so much better today.

Mysterious bluish-green light spotted streaking over the Southwest was likely not a UFO but a meteor

I was on Twitter last night when this story first broke. As far as I know these are the first photos/videos to make it to the Internet. Check out the story and the photos/videos at the following location:
